Select one of the following:
Installs one or more UMLS Knowledge Sources (Metathesaurus, Semantic Network and SPECIALIST Lexicon).If you are exploring the UMLS, recommend installing all three Knowledge Sources.
MetamorphoSys guides users through the installation process by providing 5 basic option tabs from which they may select options and filters to customize the Metathesaurus subset. Additional tabs may appear when advanced options are selected.
When customization of the Metathesaurus subset is complete, click onon the File bar and select
. The resulting Metathesaurus subset files will be located in the UMLS directory in the META file folder.
Launch the RRF Subset Browser to search view any RRF subset. Additional help is available inside the application.
From the File Menu select one of the following:
Copy to Hard Drive
Copies MetamorphoSys and the Knowledge Sources data files, identified by the ".nlm" extension, to local storage. Local storage may improve startup times for MetamorphoSys as contrasted to running off the DVD.Validate Distribution
Confirms that all UMLS files are correct and complete. The process takes approximately 30 minutes and produces a log file (validation.log) and an alert box that displays a statement regarding the validity of the files. Use "Validate Distribution" as your first step in troubleshooting when experiencing any malfunctions.
From the Advanced Menu select one of the following:
Customize my subset
Customize a subset already created using the saved Metathesaurus configuration and the 5 basic option tabs (Input Options, Output Options, Source List, Precedence, Suppressibility). Additional tabs appear when advanced options are selected.When customization of the Metathesaurus subset is complete, click on
on the File bar and select
. The resulting Metathesaurus subset files will be located in the directory specified.
Build MRCXT
Launch the MRCXT Builder application. This tool enables users to generate a MRCXT.RRF file from the information found in the MRHIER.RRF and MRCONSO.RRF files. Additional help is available inside the application.
