Friend, Happy Father’s Day!

I’m sending love and appreciation today to my husband, Jonathan. He’s a wonderful father to Theo and Henry, and he’s been endlessly supportive of me and of our family during each of my runs for office, including the past few months I’ve spent on the campaign trail running for president.

I feel so grateful to have been able to start our family while maintaining my career in public service. But for far too many families, that’s a decision well out of reach.

We should make it easier for everyone in this country who wants to start a family to do so—regardless of how much money they have, where they live, who they love, or how they identify.

That’s why I proposed my Family Bill of Rights, a major economic policy proposal for my first 100 days as president that levels the playing field for kids and eases the financial burden on families.

A key component of my plan is national paid family leave. It’s been a priority of mine for years—particularly since I was pregnant with Theo 15 years ago and working at a law firm with no paid leave policy at all.

I literally wrote the plan for my firm, and I’ve introduced a paid family leave bill in every Congress since 2013 because too many people face the impossible choice between earning a paycheck or caring for their family members who need them, whether it’s a newborn baby or an aging parent.

As president, I’m going to work my hardest to get us to national paid family leave so no more families get stuck making that choice.

So this Father’s Day, I’m sending love to the fathers like Jonathan who support us no matter what, and recommitting to making it easier to raise a family in this country. It’s why I’m running for president—to fight for your family as hard as I would fight for my own.
