Some of the most inspiring moments I’ve had on the campaign trail are the times I’ve met and talked to young girls who are so excited that six women are running for president.

It’s those girls I’m thinking of today as we mark the 100th anniversary of the Senate passing the 19th Amendment, enshrining in the Constitution a woman’s right to vote.

Today, I’m recommitting to the never-ending fight to protect and expand voting rights—because for far too many people in this country, oppressive and racist laws have put the right to vote out of reach for decades. And I’m honoring and celebrating the suffragists who worked tirelessly to win women the right to vote. We’ve made immense strides in the past century, but we still haven’t broken the highest glass ceiling: electing a woman president.

For the suffragists who won us so much, for the little girls who look up to us, and for the Americans whose voting rights are still under attack today, I’m running for president to be a brave new voice in the White House.

The first step on that path is guaranteeing my spot on the debate stage, and I’m getting close to having the 65,000 donors I need to get it done. But we have just 8 days left to close the gap before we have to submit numbers to the DNC, and the debate stage is where I can make the strongest case for my campaign.

Since President Trump’s inauguration, women have been on fire.

From taking to the streets marching and protesting his radical policies to running for office and winning in record numbers in 2018—taking back the U.S. House in the process—women have shown they’re fed up with the status quo.

Like I said during my town hall Sunday night: Women are ready to fight for a seat at the table, because men are already there and have been for generations.

I’m not ashamed to put women and families front and center in my campaign, and I won’t back down on advocating for women’s rights—including the fight for abortion access—even if it’s called not “very polite.”

After all, the suffragists sure as hell didn’t make change by worrying about being polite.
