The White House has repeatedly stonewalled Congress’ ability to take basic fact-finding steps and make an informed decision. And the Trump administration has completely undermined any trust the American people could have had in our Department of Justice.
Based on his statements today, Special Counsel Robert Mueller clearly expects Congress to exercise its constitutional authority and take steps he could not.
We cannot let this president defy the basic accountability measures built into our Constitution.
