97% of Americans agree we need universal background checks. They stopped over 112,000 illegal gun sales in 2017. We should have that same standard for every single gun sale around the country, including at gun shows.

If 97% of us agree on something, why hasn't Congress done anything? Because special interests like the NRA are paying them not to. They're lying for money.

I don't take NRA money (not that they're offering) so I'm giving you the truth.

We need universal background checks and a ban on assault weapons and accessories like bump stocks that make these weapons even deadlier. I released my gun safety plan today and those are three of the main pillars.

The fourth pillar is a national version of something we have in my home state called "Extreme Risk Laws." Both Democrats and Republicans support this. These laws allow a person who knows that a family member poses an immediate threat to themselves or others, to have a legal means to protect their safety by temporarily restricting access to guns.
