My name is Belén Sisa, and I work for Bernie Sanders. And I'm a DACA recipient. I'm writing to you because many of my friends and neighbors are under attack.
Multiple news outlets are reporting that Immigration and Customs Enforcement is planning deportation raids against immigrant families in Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York City, and San Francisco starting early Sunday morning. Those reportedly being targeted are minors who entered the United States alone but have since turned 18, as well as people who have missed immigration court hearings or have standing deportation orders.
This is a dangerous, xenophobic, and racist action by the Trump administration for no other reason than to terrorize. Immigrant families will be tracked down and picked up having committed no wrong doing besides wanting to provide for their families.
As a DACA recipient, many of the people I love and care about could be impacted by these raids. Today we need you.
Whether or not you are an immigrant, please share this “Know Your Rights” information widely to help those who might fall victim to the cruel and inhumane policies of the Trump administration.
We created these resources in English and Spanish with information from the ACLU to inform people of their rights if they are targeted by ICE. I hope you will share these images on social media or forward this email.
Now more than ever it's time for us to show up and speak out when our immigrant community is under attack.
Just like Bernie says, it’s going to take all of us to protect the political, human, and economic rights of ALL in this country.
